Delta Dental Foundation announces $150,000 grant for º£½ÇÂ×ÂÒ School of Dentistry
º£½ÇÂ×ÂÒ's School of Dentistry is honored to receive a $150,000 grant from . This generous funding, made possible through the Access to Care Grants Program, will enhance services and update supplies and equipment in the school’s at the Ricardo Salinas Health Center in San Antonio and , which cater to communities facing shortages and disparities in oral health care access.
Oral health affects the heart, brain and mental health. Since 2011, the foundation has contributed more than $150 million nationally to local community partners. The goals of these partnerships are to increase access to care, address health disparities, drive health equity and promote innovation in the oral health field.
Previous support from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to º£½ÇÂ×ÂÒ focused on pediatric oral health outreach and care. With the additional funding provided by the grant this year, the School of Dentistry will expand crucial services to older adults, particularly in Laredo. Senior citizens face significant barriers to oral health, which can impact overall quality of life.
Through generous funding and partnerships, the º£½ÇÂ×ÂÒ School of Dentistry improves health and well-being in South Texas by addressing health care access and developing our future health care providers. By enhancing its capacity to offer care to uninsured, underinsured and underserved patients, as well as supporting educational outreach efforts, the school can make a significant impact in bridging oral health disparities in the communities it serves.
